On one rainy day in January I traveled from the Sunshine Coast to Vancouver to photograph Maddie & Jas. It was the first time I met them since booking their wedding for this upcoming April and I was really looking forward to meeting them in person after months of chatting back and forth via email. We met downtown in Gastown at Starbucks and began taking photos in Blood Alley and a few other beautiful locations with brick walls (that I absolutely LOVE!). Then we walked around Vancouver to the parkade across from the Seymour Building, while the rain POURED down on us. BUT, the downpour didn't cramp Maddie & Jas style for their engagement session! They were absolute troopers and spent the hour laughing their asses off, smiling and embracing the west coast weather. And well, I have to say, the photos turned out great despite the "crappy" weather that may make some couples cancel their shoot! So, my biggest piece of advice for couples with weddings in the PNW (Pacific Northwest) is embrace the weather people! Your photos can still be gorgeous and honestly, the rain adds so much extra moodiness to the images! I die for raindrops on jacket sleeves!
